Facility Location: Dignity Health Sacramento System Office – Rancho Cordova, CA
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week

 

Shift:

  • 12-hour Varied Evenings/Nights
  • Shifts: 2:45 PM – 3:15 AM and 12:45 PM – 1:15 AM
  • Every Other Weekend required
  • Holiday Coverage required
Job Description
  • Role Type: RN – Transfer Center (non-bedside, zero hands-on patient care )
  • Setting: Acute / Transfer Center (off-site support role)
  • Average Case Volume: ~12 cases per shift (may manage 10–15 at once)
  • Main Responsibilities:
    • Facilitate patient transfers within and outside the Dignity Health system
    • Coordinate with accepting MDs/specialists
    • Use clinical assessment skills to ensure appropriate placement
    • Input and access patient data (no physical care)
    • Heavy multitasking via multiple systems (Cerner, TeleTracking, Google Apps, TigerConnect)
    • LVNs focus on "refer outs" to external facilities
Requirements
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years ICU, ED, or Transfer Center experience
    • Must have acute care experience
    • First-time travelers accepted
  • Skills:
    • Strong clinical judgment
    • Critical care assessment ability
    • Professionalism & multitasking in high-volume setting
    • Must be proficient with Cerner or Epic
  • Certifications:
    • BLS required
    • No additional specialty certs required
  • Licensure:
    • Active RN license (or LVN, for LVN-specific tasks)
    • License to submit: Yes
  • BSN Required: No
Screening Requirements
  • Dysrhythmia (DYS) Exam:
    • Must be completed prior to acceptance
    • Pass/Fail; 2 attempts allowed (Test A first, Test B if needed)
    • Screenshot proof of attempts required
    • Relias exam within last 12 months is accepted
  • References:
    • 2 supervisory references required (1 within last 12 months, 1 within last 3 years)
Restrictions
  • Cannot have been employed (FT, PT, PRN) directly by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year
  • PRN via external agency is acceptable
Additional Notes
  • Orientation:
    • 1 day general orientation
    • 3–5 days department training (any shift)
  • Floating: None
  • Dress Code:
    • Scrubs of any color (must be clean and professional)
    • Jeans/hoodies acceptable if neat (no rips, no large graphics)
  • Parking: Free onsite parking + 4 hours of EV charging
  • Cafeteria: Closes at 2:30 PM
  • RTO Policy: Very limited or none preferred
  • Call-Off Policy:
    • Up to 4 cancellations allowed per 13-week contract
    • Up to 3 cancellations for shorter contracts
