The Unit Based Educator at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals will function as a master teacher and preceptor while maintaining clinical skills. This role emphasizes educational leadership and the integration of evidence-based practices to enhance patient care in a specialized ICU environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide educational leadership to enhance specialized patient care
Initiate unit-based strategies for developing clinical skills
Perform as a clinical instructor for nursing students
Develop patient plans of care incorporating evidence-based research
Consult and serve as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team
Educate staff on new equipment and coordinate training
Assist patients and caregivers with educational needs
Collaborate to plan and implement curricula
Monitor trends and implement educational strategies
Deliver safe direct care to assigned patients
Write treatment plans and coordinate nursing care
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
BSN or MSN
18 months directly related experience
CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuers within 30 days
RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
Instructor in Unit-Required Certifications within 90 Days
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
Bilingual in English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
3 years directly related experience
Current Instructor in BLS, ACLS, NRP or other instructor certifications
