Job Description
As a Nurse Intern at the University of New Mexico Hospitals, you will provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, contributing to a positive work environment and quality patient care. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various patient age groups while adhering to hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver safe, direct care to an assigned group of patients under RN supervision
Implement and document individualized care plans
Administer medication and document clinical findings
Assist with special tests and procedures
Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients
Support department and hospital mission and goals
Enhance professional growth through education and workshops
Follow patient safety-related policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
Student
Senior Level-Good Standing UNM CON-Enrolled as Intern
Basic Nursing Skills Course at Nursing School
CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuers within 30 days
Upon completion of program, temporary or permanent RN license within 6 weeks
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
