Job Description

Join Northern California Preparatory School as a Special Education Teacher (Moderate/Severe) to create individualized educational experiences for students with high-functioning autism and co-occurring mental health needs, making a meaningful impact in their academic and social-emotional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals
  • Design and deliver specialized academic instruction for students with moderate to severe disabilities
  • Foster a structured, predictable, and supportive classroom environment
  • Collaborate with related service providers, behavioral teams, and families
  • Support students' social and emotional growth through embedded SEL strategies
  • Track and document academic and behavioral progress
  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Support crisis intervention and behavior management strategies as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Moderate/Severe) or eligibility to obtain
  • Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders and emotional/behavioral challenges
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and curriculum adaptations for students with moderate/severe needs
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
  • Experience in a nonpublic school or alternative education setting
