Base pay range
$50,000.00/yr - $60,000.00/yr
Type: Employee, full-time ~40 hours per week, Anticipate 2-3 days a week for 6-8 weeks in (brand new) PVD office, then at least once a week. Flexible hours.
Salary: $50-$60K with incentives, partial paid healthcare

The Development & Communications Manager (DCM) is responsible for donor development and strategic/tactical communications to donors and the general public.
This role is responsible for implementing fundraising and communications plans to meet revenue and reach goals by cultivating relationships with donors, individual fundraisers and the larger community in RI and SE New England.
Working closely with the Executive Director, board of directors, and program leadership, the DCM will identify new funding opportunities, enhance donor engagement, ensure effective best practices and full compliance with all ethical and legal standards.
The ideal candidate is a discerning and relationship-driven professional with a strong background in nonprofit fundraising, strategic communications, marketing approaches, community engagement, and grants management. They should have excellent communication skills, expertise in marketing methods with an ability to implement, a commitment to TWP’s mission, and the ability to inspire support from a diverse range of donors and funders.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Organize existing donor relations tools and processes, work with ED, BOD and staff to Implement a fundraising and communications plan supporting TWP mission and vision.
- Identify, cultivate, and secure funding from a range of sources—including government grants, corporate partnerships, foundations, and individual donors—to generate resources to further expand the TWP mission and reach.
- Oversee donor development and stewardship activities, organize and manage donor CRM, related sources and communication tools.Implement donor communications schedule and related events.
- Assist in identifying grant opportunities, assist in organizing grant applications, track calendars for grant deliverables and reports, maintain relationships with local and regional grantors.
Communications & Marketing
- Assist in developing and implementing community communications, including social media and email to grow TWP engagement and donor base
- Develop relationships with local and regional media folks and organizations
- Collaborate with the ED and consultant team to ensure communication efforts align with organizational priorities and are effectively managed.
- Develop marketing strategies the team can implement to build volunteer and fundraising
- Build small to medium sized events to help build the strength of the organization as well as their reach throughout RI and New England.
Other Job Functions
- Support and strengthen internal team efforts to maintain meaningful donor relationships through engagement, recognition, and impact-driven communication.
- Stay informed on trends in philanthropy, nonprofit marketing, and fund development
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, public administration, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising in greater geographic region, donor relations, or nonprofit communications, with a track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.
- Experience cultivating donors, securing grants, and managing fundraising campaigns.
- Knowledge of grant writing, grant management, and compliance with government and foundation funding requirements.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to connect with donors, corporate partners, foundations, and community stakeholders.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to independently lead and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages, grant proposals, and fundraising appeals.
- Strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to develop, implement, and measure fundraising and communications strategies.
- Proficiency in donor database/CRM systems and fundraising software. Bloomerang preferred
- Knowledge of trends and best practices in philanthropy, donor engagement, and nonprofit fundraising.
- Social media insight analysis and algorithmic knowledge
Preferred
- Familiarity with writing and policy around reproductive justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, grass-roots activism and local and state political mechanisms
- Experience leading fundraising efforts in a social services or human services nonprofit organization.
- Experience working with artists, are an artist, crafter, creator of any type.
- E-commerce sales to build a swag and online store presence
- Balances humor with rigor and manages a fire in their belly about the current state of affairs in local, state and the federal government while wanting to do something about it from behind their computer.
