Description  

Position: Surgical Technician
Location: New Orleans, LA
Start Date: 10/12/2025
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
End Date: 01/11/2026
Shift: 12-hour Day Shift | 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
Schedule: on-call required (weeknights and weekends)

This position supports a busy outpatient surgery center within a leading health system. The Surgical Tech will assist in procedures, prepare equipment, maintain sterile fields, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary OR team to deliver safe and efficient surgical care.

Responsibilities

  • Scrub for surgical procedures across multiple specialties
  • Assist physicians and RNs during intraoperative care
  • Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Ensure endoscope cleaning/disinfection with quality control protocols
  • Support daily operations of the surgery department
  • Adapt positively to workflow changes and scheduling flexibility
  • Comply with infection control, patient safety, and documentation standards
  • Maintain clinical readiness and participate in continuing education
  • Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Certification in Surgical Technology – Required
  • BLS (AHA) – Required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the surgical tech role
  • Familiarity with standard OR instruments, sterile technique, and perioperative support
  • Strong judgment, organization, and time management skills

Additional Information Shift: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM, with scheduled on-call for weeknights and weekends Physical requirements: frequent lifting (10–20 lbs), occasional exertion up to 100 lbs Regular exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases Must be comfortable working in high-volume procedural environments Professional attire required; scrub color not specified Candidates should be self-directed, adaptable, and team-oriented
