Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse – NICU Location: Harris Regional Hospital, Sylva, NC Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM Assignment Type: Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks Experience Required: Minimum 1 year preferred

Position Overview: Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC is seeking a Travel Registered Nurse for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The RN will provide specialized care to critically ill and premature newborns, working closely with neonatologists and the interdisciplinary team. This role requires advanced neonatal skills, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to respond effectively in high-risk situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe and effective nursing care to NICU patients, including premature and critically ill newborns
  • Attend high-risk deliveries and provide immediate neonatal resuscitation and stabilization
  • Utilize NRP skills and provide post-resuscitation care in accordance with hospital protocols
  • Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as ordered by physicians
  • Monitor patient conditions, interpret vital signs, and respond promptly to changes
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Educate and support families regarding neonatal care, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality assurance standards

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
  • Required Certifications: NRP, BLS, ACLS, STABLE
  • Minimum of 1 year of NICU experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of neonatal physiology, critical care interventions, and resuscitation protocols
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work 12-hour day shifts in a travel capacity
