Minimum Qualifications:



  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program in Massachusetts


  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field required; Master’s in Nursing, Education, or related field preferred


  • 5+ years of clinical nursing experience, including 3+ years in Maternity/OB


  • MA RN license required


  • BLS & NRP required


  • BLS & NRP Instructor credentials required

Job Summary:

The Nurse Educator serves as a role model, consultant, change agent, and facilitator in assessing learning needs, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities for the hospital. Utilizing adult and pediatric learning principles, this position develops and implements job aids, performance criteria, clinical competencies, and interactive practical experiences to support staff development based on identified educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:



  1. Collaborate with the Director of Obstetrical Nursing and staff to assess learning needs.


  2. Plan and implement educational activities using adult and pediatric learning principles.


  3. Develop and implement annual educational and competency review plans for the department.


  4. Utilize evaluation mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of learning and plan next steps.


  5. Promote collaborative relationships among internal and external healthcare professionals.


  6. Participate in activities promoting professional development and nursing practice enhancement.


  7. Coordinate patient, family, and community education as assigned.


  8. Develop and manage orientation programs for all new staff, tailored to individual needs.


  9. Actively participate in hospital committees, including resuscitation, nurse practice council, trauma, stroke, and nursing councils.


  10. Develop special projects in collaboration with the Director of Obstetrical Nursing.


  11. Serve as department coordinator for unit-specific courses.


  12. Demonstrate clinical expertise in Obstetrical Nursing and serve as a clinical resource and role model.


  13. Participate in performance improvement activities and evidence-based policy/procedure development.


  14. Maintain department-specific policies and procedures.


  15. Participate in professional associations and maintain continuing education and credentialing.


  16. Uphold patient rights and ensure quality care delivery.

Submission Requirements:



  • MA RN license


  • BLS & NRP


  • BLS & NRP Instructor credentials


  • 5+ years clinical nursing, 3+ years OB/Maternity experience
