The Senior Director of Behavior at the ASPCA leads the behavioral care for animals in the ARC and CARE, ensuring their medical and behavioral welfare. This role involves collaboration with various teams to advance animal care strategies and lead research initiatives while managing a team of behavior experts.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for ARC and CARE animals
Ensure high-quality, low-stress patient and population care
Manage and mentor behavior staff
Lead research projects related to animal behavior
Foster relationships with medical and behavior team leaders
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
DVM degree or equivalent from AVMA accredited veterinary school (for Veterinary Behaviorist candidates)
Master’s or PhD in animal Behavior or related discipline (for Non-Veterinarian Behaviorist candidates)
Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced environment
Effective communication and teamwork skills
