Travel Nursing Job Details

• Location: Des Moines, Iowa 50309 – Central Iowa healthcare jobs
• Facility: Level I Trauma Center, Operating Room
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/24/2025 – End: 2/23/2026)
• Shifts: Day shifts, 6:30am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday
• Schedule: 4x10 hour shifts per week, 40 hours/week
• On-Call: Up to 2 overnight calls per week and 4 weekends per contract
• Unit Details: 16 OR suites, 35-50 surgical cases per day
• Surgical Specialties: Cardiac, vascular, thoracic, neuro, ortho trauma, robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, transplants
• Scrubs: Provided by facility
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2560 - $2750

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 3 years of recent hospital Operating Room RN experience (outpatient experience not accepted)
• Level I trauma center experience required
• Strong proficiency in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical cases
• Previous travel nursing contract completed within the last 12 months (no first-time travelers)
• Scrub nurse experience required
• Experience with EPIC EMR system
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
• At least 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Circulate and scrub for a wide range of surgical procedures, focusing on cardiac and trauma cases
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality patient care
• Maintain efficient operating room turnover (goal: less than 20 minutes)
• Float between all hospital campuses as needed
• Participate in on-call rotation, including overnight and weekend shifts
• Accurately document patient care and surgical procedures using EPIC EMR
• Comply with hospital policies, infection control, and safety protocols
