Key Responsibilities
Assess the patient’s condition and determine the needed treatment.
Elicit the patient’s interpretation of their current situation and expected outcomes.
Communicate with the prescribing physician to clarify expectations for the orthosis.
Formulate a comprehensive treatment plan based on input from the prescribing physician, patient, and rehabilitation team.
Select appropriate prefabricated orthoses or design custom orthoses.
Measure and cast patients.
Fit patients with completed orthoses and adjust as necessary.
Provide instruction on proper use and care of the orthosis.
Document all patient contacts according to established procedures.
Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust orthoses as required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Certified Orthotist - American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics (ABCOP)
