Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
Location : Flemington, NJ
Shift: Nights, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: Every other weekend required

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) with strong expertise in Microbiology (Micro) and Chemistry (Chem) to join our laboratory team on a temporary basis. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of diagnostic tests, analyze results, and ensure accurate reporting to support patient care. This role emphasizes hands-on experience in key areas like blood cultures, gram stains, and chemistry analyzers, with opportunities to leverage molecular testing and laboratory information systems (LIS) for enhanced efficiency.
Key Responsibilities - Perform and interpret laboratory tests in Microbiology, including positive blood culture workups, spinal fluid gram stains, and molecular testing (a plus if experienced).
- Conduct Chemistry analyses, with preference for experience using Roche Chemistry analyzers or related middleware systems.
- Utilize Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) such as Soft and Soft MIC to manage data, generate reports, and ensure seamless integration with other systems (experience here will make a candidate stand out).
- Analyze specimens, troubleshoot issues, and maintain equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide timely results, participate in quality control measures, and contribute to process improvements.
- Document procedures, maintain records, and adhere to regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, OSHA).
- Assist in training or mentoring junior staff as needed during the contract period.
Qualifications and Requirements: - Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).
- Strong background in Microbiology (Micro) and Chemistry (Chem), with comfort in handling positive blood cultures, spinal fluid gram stains, and molecular testing (preferred).
- Experience with Roche Chemistry analyzers or middleware is a significant plus.
- Proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), particularly Soft and SoftMIC, will make a candidate stand out.
- ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) certification required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced night shift environment.
