Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you will lead a dedicated team, ensuring high-quality veterinary care for underserved communities. You'll oversee operations while also providing hands-on medical care, making a significant impact on animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the ASPCA’s veterinary clinics
Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
Support a positive work culture through regular 1:1s and performance evaluations
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high volume spay/neuter procedures
Triage and refer cases as appropriate
Ensure all team members have received training in low-stress handling techniques
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Excellent work attendance record
Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management experience strongly preferred
