Unit Details:

• Unit: 2S ICU | 32 Beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2 typical (can vary 1:1 – 1:3)
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• May float to Stepdown and Med-Surg units (4–5 patients when floated)

Common Cases & Procedures:

• Respiratory distress/failure, cardiac arrest, DKA, sepsis, ARF, strokes, OHS, TAVR’s, vascular surgeries, thoracotomies, carotids
• Bedside procedures: bronchs, trachs, central/arterial lines, chest tubes, intubations

Equipment & Medications:

• Equipment: Alaris pumps, Prisma flex, Arctic Sun, IABP, Impella, Phillips Monitors, Belmont Rapid Infuser
• Medications: Vasopressors, sedatives, paralytics, cardiac meds
• Vasoactive drip titration required (Levophed, epinephrine, vasopressin, nicardipine, cleviprex)

Skills Required:

• Line Management: IV insertion, PICC/Central Line care, dialysis fistula care, A-line, CVP
• Cardiac: Sheath removal, cardioversion/defibrillation
• Airway: Ventilator management, CPAP/BiPAP, nitric oxide, trach care, procedural sedation
• Other: Feeding tubes, wound vac

Preferred Skills:

• PA line & IABP management, EVD/ICP monitoring, Impella/LVAD, CRRT, rapid infuser, epidural/PCA, 12-lead EKG, epicardial pacer

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience (not accepting first-time travelers)
• BLS, ACLS required
• Strong critical care background
