Join Chesapeake Oncology Hematology Associates as a Medical Assistant Extern. In this role, you'll assist in patient care, manage lab specimens, and support healthcare providers in a collaborative environment, all while gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced medical setting.
Key Responsibilities
Escort patients to and from the exam room and complete patient intake
Clean and straighten exam room between patients
Prepare syringes and administer injections
Assist provider with injectable procedures
Prepare pathology and lab specimens
Respond to patient questions as instructed by the physician
Schedule or re-schedule appointments
Work in compliance with OSHA and HIPAA standards
Maintain medication samples and discard out-of-date supplies
Train other employees on medical assistant duties
Assist with check-in or check-out procedures as needed
Perform additional duties as required
Required Qualifications
Completion of a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant program
Professionalism and strong customer service skills
Ability to communicate clearly with doctors and patients
Ability to lift at least 15 pounds
Ability to stand for prolonged periods
Preferred Qualifications
At least one (1) year of medical assisting experience
Thrives in a fast-paced environment
Able to work well within a team
