ASSISTANTCOUNTY COUNSEL

DEPARTMENT: CountyCounsel (Legal)

SALARY: $100,000- $125,000

SCHEDULE: Full-Time:Monday–Friday

LOCATION: MercerCounty, NJ

POSITIONOVERVIEW:

The Mercer County Counsel's Office seeks anexperienced attorney to join its legal team. This position involvesrepresenting the County in state and federal civil litigation matters,providing legal advice to departments, and engaging in collective bargainingnegotiations. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to the public goodand shape the County's legal framework.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent Mercer County in civil litigation matters,including Title 59 and civil rights cases.
  • Provide legal counsel on labor and employment lawissues.
  • Participate in collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Advise on matters involving the New Jersey CivilService system.
  • Draft legal documents, opinions, and correspondence.
  • Collaborate with County departments to ensurecompliance with applicable laws.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in state and federalcivil litigation, including Title 59, civil rights, and labor and employmentlaw.
  • Admitted to, and in good standing with, the New JerseyBar.
  • Experience in collective bargaining negotiations andworking knowledge of New Jersey Civil Service system is preferred.
