Job Description

As a Speech Language Pathologist at ECHN, you will evaluate and treat patients to improve or restore their speech and language functions. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team and participate in community education and the clinical training of students, making a significant impact on patient care and education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients based on departmental standards.
  • Conducts and modifies evaluations based on patients' symptoms and medical status.
  • Treats patients with appropriate therapeutic techniques.
  • Administers physical agents and manual therapeutic techniques.
  • Educates patients/families on home exercise programs.
  • Determines when a patient has achieved maximal benefit from treatment.
  • Documents in accordance with insurance guidelines.
  • Communicates with interdepartmental staff and referring physicians.
  • Submits daily charges accurately.
  • Supervises at least one affiliated student per year.
  • Attends continuing education courses.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program of Speech Language Pathology with a minimum of a M.S.
  • Current Connecticut license or eligibility for license.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association or eligibility.
  • Valid drivers' license for occasional travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic personal computer skills in Windows-based programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
