The Senior Director of Behavior at the ASPCA will lead a team dedicated to enhancing the welfare of animals through high-quality behavioral care and strategic research initiatives. This role involves collaboration with various departments to ensure holistic animal care and fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for ARC and CARE animals
Ensure high-quality, low-stress patient and population care
Manage and mentor a team of behavior experts
Lead research projects related to animal behavior and welfare
Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Experience with behaviorally and medically compromised animals
Must feel comfortable with humane euthanasia decisions
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
Experience writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
