Job Description

Join Optum as an Associate Patient Care Coordinator and make a positive impact on patient care. You'll work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing state-of-the-art technology while supporting a dedicated team to ensure high-quality service and care for patients across multiple locations in New York.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors promptly and courteously
  • Verifies insurance information and registers new patients
  • Arrives patients on the computer for scheduled appointments
  • Collects and posts co-pays and other payments
  • Schedules future appointments for patients
  • Assists therapists with paperwork for pre-certification of therapy visits
  • Answers telephone and confirms new patient appointments
  • Performs clerical duties such as copying, faxing, and filing
  • Contacts patients in case of no call/no show
  • Uses an electronic health record (EPIC)
  • Executes time management by notifying the provider team of patient arrivals
  • Ensures continuity of care and communication between providers
  • Completes clinic reports and administrative duties
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information
  • Opens or closes the clinic facility

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service or office related experience
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency (multi-tasking through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word)
  • Ability to travel 25% to Manhattan and Sunnyside practices if needed for coverage
  • Ability to attend training in Lake Success, NY

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience working in medical front office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records
  • Experience working with an electronic health record (EPIC)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
