Job Description

Join Raytheon's Materials Engineering Department as a Principal Propellant Chemist in Tucson, AZ. Utilize your expertise in chemical analysis and material applications to contribute to the development and production of advanced propellant systems, engaging with suppliers and conducting hands-on testing. Key Responsibilities

  • Support programs in assessing supplier data and troubleshoot problems
  • Conduct hands-on testing of materials
  • Conduct standard chemical analysis using various instrumentation
  • Lead characterization and design projects
  • Document and communicate results and findings

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in using propellant mixers and standard laboratory equipment
  • Experience in Instrumental Analysis techniques
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Equivalent MOS: 89D (US Army), 2171 (US Marine Corps), 4B0X1 (US Air Force)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply analytical chemistry principles
  • ACS certified Chemistry degree with strong analytical/instrumentation skills
  • Understanding of Polymer Chemistry
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering
  • Knowledge of data analysis and computational techniques
