Key Responsibilities
Provide developmentally and educationally based intervention to improve safety and independence
Implement treatment plans and programs focusing on functional outcomes
Deliver specialized individual and group occupational therapy instruction as mandated in students’ IEPs
Collect data and complete reports on student goals and progress
Consult with other professionals on the student's treatment team
Assess and document each student’s progress
Write and prepare annual review reports and goals for each student
Provide parent and caregiver support and education
Attend school-related meetings
Ensure a suitable learning environment
Provide screenings and evaluations for skilled occupational therapy intervention
Supervise COTA(s) as needed
Communicate with schools and families for therapy referrals
Follow safety guidelines for student mobility
Maintain quality of therapy records
Participate in training programs for students and staff
Required Qualifications
Appropriate State License
NYSED Certification Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) OR Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD)
Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards
Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy
Current CPR Certification

Experience working with pediatric populations
