Job Description

UHS Wilson Medical Center is seeking an experienced Med Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will provide safe, high-quality, and compassionate care to patients with cardiac, post-surgical, and complex medical needs.

The RN will be responsible for coordinating and delivering nursing care that aligns with the New York State Nurse Practice Act , United Health Services policies , and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice . This role requires sound clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
  • Serve as a primary nurse for assigned patients, ensuring patient safety and care continuity.
  • Educate patients and families regarding disease management, medications, and discharge planning.
  • Administer IV and PO cardiac medications safely, including cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, lidocaine, milrinone, heparin, and insulin .
  • Monitor and manage patients with CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias, NSTEMI/STEMI, pulmonary embolism, stroke, and sepsis .
  • Care for post-op cardiac patients including TAVR, Watchman, Mitral Clip, CABG (post-op >3 days) , and heart catheterizations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality patient outcomes.
  • Comply with all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education.
Requirements
  • License: Active New York RN License (or compact license eligible).
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA, HSI, or Red Cross).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of recent Med Surg/Telemetry experience .
    • Experience managing cardiac telemetry and post-cardiac procedure patients required.
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and professional specialty certifications.
Schedule
  • 12-hour Day shifts
  • 36 hours per week (3x12s)
  • Every other weekend required
  • 13-week contract
