Job Description

Join Sanofi as a Principal Scientist in Engineering, where you will lead innovations in lab automation and digital development for drug substance processes. Collaborate with global teams to optimize pharmaceutical processes and enhance lab productivity, making a meaningful impact on patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with laboratory teams to design, develop, and deploy automated systems and workflows
  • Program and develop automated laboratory systems, integrating analytical instruments with software
  • Build mechanistic, hybrid, and data-driven modeling solutions for small molecule process development
  • Assist in deploying digital twins and Model Predictive Control systems
  • Provide technical presentations and document project work
  • Establish external networks and lead collaborations

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in chemical engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience in industry or academia, or a master’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience, or a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 years experience
  • Strong skills in writing and optimizing scripts in programming languages such as Python/Matlab/C#/Visual Basic
  • Experience with crystallization modeling and simulation tools (e.g., gPROMS)
  • Experience in designing and implementing automated laboratory processes
  • Ability to translate mathematical models into computer programs
  • Teamwork skills in engaging scientists with complementary skill sets
  • Change agent mentality for proposing novel approaches

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with laboratory analytical measurement instruments or relevant pharmaceutical sciences laboratory experience
  • Domain knowledge in small molecule process development with industrial applications or academic publications
  • Knowledge in Multivariate Analysis, chemometrics, and statistics
  • Experience in the development and scale-up of continuous processes
