Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health Location: Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, Virginia Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM Employment Type: Travel Contract

Position Overview: Twin County Regional Hospital is seeking a compassionate and experienced Travel RN to join our Behavioral Health team. This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to delivering high-quality psychiatric care. The RN will provide direct patient care, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support patients through their mental health recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered nursing care to individuals with behavioral health conditions
  • Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and implement therapeutic interventions
  • Administer medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, coping strategies, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies and de-escalate crisis situations using approved techniques
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in the state of Virginia or compact state eligibility
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and emotionally demanding environment
