Job Description
Join our team as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, where you'll empower students with visual impairments to navigate their environments safely and independently. Your expertise will help create inclusive educational experiences and foster collaboration among educators, families, and the community.
Key Responsibilities
Provide itinerant orientation and mobility services for students with visual impairments
Develop classroom adaptations and instruction for students
Assess students to determine orientation and mobility needs
Provide skills for safe and efficient navigation in various environments
Maintain accurate records of student progress and goals
Collaborate with teachers and parents to support student learning
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
Three years experience supporting teachers and students with visual impairments
North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Visually Impaired (VI)
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Special Education
Certification from Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP)
Experience teaching students with visual impairments in orientation and mobility
