Job Description

Join MassMutual as a Project Management Director in the Operations PMO, where you'll lead a team in managing complex projects for New Business and Underwriting. This role requires strong leadership, strategic focus, and collaboration across multiple business units to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee a project delivery team with various levels of project and program managers
  • Oversee daily operation of department(s) and vendor engagements
  • Develop business objectives for department(s)
  • Participate as a member of the management team contributing to strategies and goals
  • Manage financial and resource planning to achieve department objectives
  • Ensure projects are delivered on-time and meet quality goals within scope and budget
  • Understand and promote MassMutual delivery methodologies and standards
  • Support project management execution and visibility into the portfolio of work

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of project management leadership experience
  • 8+ years of project management experience
  • 5+ years of direct experience across the Life, Health & Disability new business

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years working knowledge of Order Entry Platforms, New Business Platforms/Workbenches, Underwriting Rules Engines and Automation / Straight Through Processing
  • 5+ years working knowledge of career and third party distribution systems
  • Agile/Waterfall project management experience
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies
  • Proven success in delivering complex long-term projects on time, within budget, and to scope
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience leading projects impacting the insurance industry
  • 3+ years' experience within a PMO
  • 10+ years of project management experience
