Job Description
The Casting Process Engineer, also referred to as Process Owner, is responsible for consistent execution of major and critical casting processes used in our production of the most advanced SX/DS blades Vernova gas turbines. The Process Engineer assures that executional variation of major processes are identified and controlled.
The Process Engineer will work onsite at our Investment Casting Foundry in Schenectady Cores and Castings where you will get to work with innovative technologies, and SX/DS furnaces.
Safety: Assure that all equipment use for Wax Injection are operating as designed, including all safety features. Assure operators are trained in all equipment safety features and for all processes. Contribute to Management of Change, Safety Risk Assessments and LOTO on all new equipment.
Equipment: Establish process controls to reduce process excursions via data analysis. Perform engineering trials to evaluate process improvement and to implement fixtures/jigs/tooling. Quality: Work with QA and Product Engineers to implement customer requirements. Design: Responsible for all 3D Design and machine programming used for all our wax machines.
Daily monitoring of processes, drive, lead or participate in process improvement initiatives and/or problem-solving teams to maintain budgeted FPY. Maintenance: Ensure PM are done on time for the equipment owned and help with the diagnostic of machine failure. Lead maintenance initiatives to reach budgeted OA.
Daily interface with manufacturing, management, and product team. This position involves a "hands-on" approach with consistent presence on the production floor, during Genba walks and a daily check-in with operators, maintenance, and leaders
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or technical field/related area or equivalent to 4 years of related work experience.
Minimum of 2 years in production manufacturing or process control.
This position is 100% onsite at the GE Schenectady plant and 1st shift. This position involves a consistent presence on the production floor with a daily check-in with operators, maintenance and leaders.
This role requires use of technical data subject to U.Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and protected individuals (e.g., Relocation assistance considered only within the USA.
Personality and drive to execute in challenging and fulfilling manufacturing environment that operates under tight timelines and aggressive schedules.
~ Strong academic foundation coupled with hands on experience.
~ Experience with statistical and process improvement tools: Demonstrated capability to handle multiple tasks or projects and to develop/lead an action plan.
