Key Responsibilities
Perform venipuncture following infection control processes
Maintain knowledge of all routine container and minimum volumes required for specimen collection
Identify and label specimens
Collect and verify demographic information
Update insurance information as needed
Verify eligibility and flag appointment accordingly
Conduct outreach to patients requiring appointments
Scan and index documents into the EHR
Manage patients according to approved protocols
Carry out standing orders consistent with practice policies
Document all patient interactions accurately in the EHR
Schedule tests, treatments, and follow-up visits
Maintain oversight of temperature monitoring
Assist care team to assure smooth office operation
Provide attention to patients to build confidence and trust
Demonstrate respect for patients and staff
Maintain open lines of communication with care team
Maintain knowledge of current coding, OSHA and CLIA regulations
Adhere to all patient safety initiatives and infection control regulations
Perform all other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
National certification or registration as Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of phlebotomy experience
Experience working with Epic
Knowledge of medical terminology
