🩺 Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive care to neonates during high-risk deliveries and in a Level II nursery setting. The RN applies the nursing process to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care in accordance with hospital philosophy, professional standards, and regulatory guidelines.

The RN is accountable for the safety, quality, and coordination of direct and indirect nursing care provided to patients and families, reporting directly to the Director of Obstetrical Nursing or designee.

  1. Provide age-appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
  2. Develop and modify individualized care plans for neonates and families.
  3. Supervise and delegate nursing tasks to assistive personnel within their scope of practice.
  4. Participate in continuing education, in-service programs, and professional development.
  5. Collaborate in unit/hospital projects to improve patient outcomes.
  6. Maintain communication with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  7. Deliver patient and family education as appropriate.
  8. Coordinate and document all aspects of the patient care plan.
  9. Maintain compliance with hospital attendance and competency policies.
  10. Demonstrate leadership through mentoring, preceptorship, and teamwork.
  11. Float to related units (Mother/Baby, Labor & Delivery) as required.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in special care nursery or neonatal nursing preferred.

Licensure & Certifications:
βœ… Massachusetts RN License – Required
βœ… BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
βœ… NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required
