Job Description

Join Cargill as an Electrician B and play a crucial role in maintaining and installing electrical systems within our protein and salt business. You'll work in a dynamic environment where safety and sustainability are paramount, collaborating with a skilled team to ensure efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in design and installation of electrical equipment
  • Coordinate with other workers for installation and maintenance
  • Consult with operators and engineers to plan layout and resolve issues
  • Determine feasibility of equipment and develop specifications
  • Work with voltage levels up to 480, 4160 and wire Variable Frequency Drives
  • Study blueprints and manuals for installation procedures
  • Perform instrumentation calculations and set parameters
  • Modify industrial devices and circuits as needed
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks
  • Inspect industrial equipment for accurate assembly and defects
  • Advise management on equipment safety
  • Maintain equipment logs and performance records
  • Operate equipment to demonstrate proper use
  • Repair, install, and adjust equipment
  • Install coaxial or fiber optic cables
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts
  • Respond to breakdowns quickly
  • Test faulty equipment using diagnostic tools
  • Work extended hours as needed
  • Adapt to changing priorities and tasks
  • Follow National Electric Code and Cargill standards
  • Support management of contracted electrical projects
  • Participate in ongoing training
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary workplace
  • Inspect facility for maintenance needs
  • Utilize maintenance software for notifications

Required Qualifications

  • Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • 18 years or older
  • Physical capability to perform job duties including bending/stooping and working in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Work under special conditions such as extreme heat or cold
  • Ability to work in elevated areas
  • Operate machinery
  • Read/write English
  • High School diploma or Equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends
  • Perform electrical maintenance trade
  • Experience with blueprints and schematics
  • Operate mobile equipment
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude
  • Basic mathematical functions
  • Willingness to work in inclement conditions
  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments
  • Time management skills
  • Install conduit and pull wire
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Adequate transportation
  • Use multiple tools such as multi-meter and voltmeter

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with wiring and programming Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Experience using electrical test equipment for troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code
  • Mechanical aptitude for blueprints and manuals
  • Apprentice, Journeyman or above license in Nebraska or equivalent
  • 2-year degree in electromechanical or electrical systems or equivalent
