Key Responsibilities
Educates patients about diabetes self-management and nutrition guidelines
Assesses patient and family needs and formulates educational plans
Implements and evaluates educational plans
Coordinates ongoing patient care with the care team
Provides education and support related to diabetes technologies
Plans and conducts continuing education programs for professionals and the public
Participates in quality improvement activities for the diabetes education program
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics
Washington Dietitian Certification upon hire or Washington Nutritionist Certification upon hire
National CDR Registered Dietitian - Commission on Dietetic Registration upon hire
Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) within 1 year of hire
4 years of nutrition experience, preferably one year in ambulatory care setting or community health
One thousand hours of diabetes education experience in a variety of settings
Experience and comfort with teaching and public speaking
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics
