Job Description

Join Providence Swedish as a Diabetes Educator in Maternal Fetal Medicine, where you'll empower patients through education on diabetes management and nutrition, making a significant impact on their health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educates patients about diabetes self-management and nutrition guidelines
  • Assesses patient and family needs and formulates educational plans
  • Implements and evaluates educational plans
  • Coordinates ongoing patient care with the care team
  • Provides education and support related to diabetes technologies
  • Plans and conducts continuing education programs for professionals and the public
  • Participates in quality improvement activities for the diabetes education program

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics
  • Washington Dietitian Certification upon hire or Washington Nutritionist Certification upon hire
  • National CDR Registered Dietitian - Commission on Dietetic Registration upon hire
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) within 1 year of hire
  • 4 years of nutrition experience, preferably one year in ambulatory care setting or community health
  • One thousand hours of diabetes education experience in a variety of settings
  • Experience and comfort with teaching and public speaking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nutrition Sciences or Dietetics
