GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position as a Machining Technician is to play a crucial role within igus by operating, programing, troubleshooting, and set-up of advanced CNC machines to produce high quality lead screws and other various production parts. You will work with a variety of machinery and materials, including but not limited to CNC Lathes, Mills, Steel Die Rolling Machines, Saws, and Straightening Presses. Ensuring precision and quality in every piece produced.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work in a manner that complies with all site policies and procedures.
- Process production orders and read blueprints to understand and meet customer specifications.
- Ability to maintain drawing specifications by monitoring dimensional and visual characteristics to detect non-conformances.
- Ability to train other in CNC Machining, Reading Drawings, and Quality Inspections.
- Keep a clean work environment in accordance with company policy and 5S procedures.
- Provide suggestions and participate in Lean Manufacturing improvement opportunities as we develop and grow the machining manufacturing operation.
- Record and monitor daily production and quality data as required.
- Report defective material or equipment problems to the supervisor or engineer, as directed.
- Perform complex troubleshooting with little or no supervision.
- Contribute to the team by performing other duties as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of setups, tooling requirements, and part specifications.
- Transport Product and Raw Materials to and from designated inventory locations
- Ensure proper storage and retrieval of Inventory
- Perform daily Maintenance on equipment, and Safety Checks
- Perform other duties as requested by Supervisor
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Manual dexterity and good eyesight are required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
- Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Vocational or technical training/certification preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in performing set-ups and troubleshooting for CNC Machining for both Mills and Lathes (Required).
- CNC Programming - Mastercam, or other CAM experience is preferred
- Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills are required.
- Must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, good attendance, and flexibility to work overtime as needed.
- Skills in making and modifying machine tooling as necessary.
- Ability to train and mentor co-workers on CNC machine operations and inspection techniques.
- A keen eye for maintaining drawing specifications by monitoring for dimensional and visual accuracy.
- Experience working in with high and low production volume environment.
- Dedication to performing preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure longevity and efficiency.
