Job Description

Join Chesapeake Oncology Hematology Associates as a Clinical Medical Assistant, where you'll provide essential support in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. Your role will involve patient intake, administering injections, and assisting providers, all while ensuring compliance with healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from the exam room and complete patient intake
  • Clean and straighten exam room between patients
  • Prepare syringes and administer subcutaneous and intra-muscular injections
  • Assist provider with injectable procedures
  • Prepare pathology and lab specimens and route them to the correct lab
  • Respond to patient questions in office and via phone
  • Schedule or re-schedule appointments with providers and specialists
  • Work in compliance with OSHA and blood borne pathogen standards
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Maintain medication samples and discard out-of-date supplies
  • Train other employees on medical assistant duties
  • Assist with check-in or check-out procedures at the front desk
  • Perform additional duties as required

Required Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of medical assisting experience (preferred)
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant program
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Professionalism and strong customer service skills
  • Clear and concise communication with doctors
  • Professional and friendly communication with patients and co-workers
  • Ability to lift at least 15 pounds
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods
