Pluto Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN MICU - Medical Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Battle Creek, Michigan.
36 or 48 hrs available
No RTO first 8 days of contract
Position Requirements & Unit Information:
BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIH,
MI RN License
1 Year experience ICU
1st timer ok!
Patient Ratios 1:1-4
Our ICU is PCU and ICU patients mix.
PCU and Gen med/Transfer status can be in a 4:1 group based on acuity
PCU can also be in a 4-3:1 based on acuity
ICU and PCU can be in a mix of 3:1 based on acuity
Vent Patients are in a 2:1
Cooling/CRRT/ or High Acuity will be in a 1:1 group.
Will work every other weekend Will float to other ICU and Med Surg units - floating to med-surg as needed as census in the ICU flexes. The agency RNs will float in rotation with the Bronson MICU RNs to med-surg units. Typical nurse to patient ratios are approx. 5-6 pts per RN on the med-surg areas.
Must be available the entire week of orientation.
Patient Diagnoses:
COPD, Encephalopathy, Drug Overdose, DKA, AKI, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, HF,A-fib
Special Procedures/Unit Details:
CRRT,HD,A-Line placement, CVC Placement ,Trach placement, Chest tube placement
Special Equipment:
Cooling Machine, Bair Huggers, Massive transfusions, CRRT
Required Skills:
Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response: -Interpretation/management of dysrhythmias, multi system organ failure
Endocrine/Metabolic: -IV insulin protocols
Gastrointestinal: -GI surgery
Genitourinary/Renal: -Chronic/Acute Renal failure, CVVHD/CRRT
IV therapy: -Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, PICC line management, Starting IVs
MEDICATIONS: -Continuous IV sedation, Emergency Medications, Procedural Sedation Administration, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips
Neurological: -CVA/Acute Stroke management
Respiratory/Thoracic: - Assist with management of BiPAP, Assist with management of CPAP, Care of Ventilated Patient, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of ABGs, Suctioning (ETT, NT), Ventilator Management
Our unit has an average of 3 vents a day.
Our ICU Dr will keep a patient ICU if they feel they do not want to hand off the patient, even though their Acuity level is low. In those cases we will put an ICU pat with a group of 3 or 4 if the patient is stable.
There is no guarantee that holiday time off requests will be accepted as holidays are usually required. Shift Info: Night 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
