As the Director of Biomedical Engineering at Akron Children's Hospital, you will lead the Clinical Engineering Department, ensuring the effective procurement and management of biomedical equipment while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This pivotal role involves strategic planning, budget management, and collaboration with clinical teams to enhance patient care through innovative technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Direct the Clinical Engineering Department in biomedical equipment selection, procurement, and services
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and regulatory standards
Develop and manage the annual operating budget for the department
Lead the development of policies and procedures for the Clinical Engineering Department
Provide guidance for medical equipment planning and acquisitions
Manage equipment performance and service vendors
Communicate with clinical customers and optimize capital purchasing
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering or other technical discipline
Seven years' experience in medical or technical equipment operations and maintenance management
Five years' management of a hospital clinical engineering program
Knowledge of Joint Commission and other applicable standards and regulations
Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science in biomedical engineering with a clinical engineering concentration
