Key Responsibilities
Securing borders and stopping illegal activity
Questioning individuals and inspecting documents and property
Apprehending undocumented individuals or smugglers using covert surveillance
Tracking and interpreting signs of illegal entry
Performing various checks (farm, traffic, building, city, and transport)
Patrolling using various means (vehicles, horses, boats, ATVs, motorcycles)
Required Qualifications
One year of specialized experience at the next lower level for GL-9
One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade for GS-11
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have lived primarily in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years
Must be referred before turning 40
No education substitution for GL-9 or GS-11
Preferred Qualifications
Current or prior law enforcement experience
Military police experience
Local/state law enforcement experience
