Key Responsibilities
Assist and support surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures
Facilitate a safe, effective and orderly operating room
Perform instrument counts and maintain an accurate count of sponges, needles, and instruments during procedures
Prepare patient skin for surgical treatment and position patients during surgery
Monitor patients during surgery and provide supportive care during the pre-operative phase
Ensure the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in the OR
Required Qualifications
HS Diploma or GED plus short-term training in operating room setting or graduate of surgical technician certification from an accredited school or training program
Current BLS certification
Familiarity with all surgical instruments and equipment
Working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique
Minimum of 2+ years experience in a hospital or outpatient operating room if not from an accredited training program
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in advanced surgical procedures such as neurosurgery, high-risk pediatric ENT, transplants, robotics, bariatrics, joint replacement, and vascular
