Key Responsibilities
Practice medicine with physician supervision including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions
Collaborate with physicians in managing patients' acute and long-term medical needs
Assess patient status by obtaining health history
Order/perform laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests
Treat illnesses, administer injections, suture wounds
Monitor therapies and provide continuity of care
Counsel patient/family on preventive health care
Participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, and clinical guideline development
Required Qualifications
License and active registration as a physician assistant or registered nurse/nurse practitioner in New York State
Bachelor's degree in physician assistant studies or equivalent
Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (for PA)
Current CPR certification
Graduation from a nurse practitioner education program acceptable to NYSED (for NP)
Current certification as a nurse practitioner by AANPCB or ANCC (for NP)
Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of experience as a physician assistant in ambulatory health care
Three years of professional nursing experience in an ambulatory setting (for NP)
At least one year of experience as a nurse practitioner in ambulatory health care
