• Highest staffing needs on Friday and Sunday night shifts .
• Holiday coverage required per facility scheduling policy.

Unit Overview:
Baystate Health’s Emergency Department is a large, high-acuity, 118-bed unit providing comprehensive emergency and critical care services. The department serves a diverse patient population , including behavioral health, boarding, emergency/trauma, and critically ill/ICU-level patients. Nurses in this unit must demonstrate strong critical thinking, adaptability, and confidence in managing complex and unstable conditions in a fast-paced environment .

Unit Details:

• Unit Size: 118 beds
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:5
• Patient Population: Mixed acuity — behavioral health, boarding, emergency/trauma, and critical care
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of recent ED or ICU experience (post-orientation)

Certifications Required:

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• TNCC

Preferred Skills:

• Proven ability to manage high-acuity, fast-turnover patient loads
• Strong teamwork and critical care proficiency
