Summary:

The Radiology Technologist Lead is to be an advanced, experienced user of the various modalities within the department and able to demonstrate mastery of all hospital or clinical-level imaging competencies. The Radiology Technologist Lead is responsible for coordinating patient scheduling, and daily work assignments, and serves as a resource for the technologists in the diagnostic department. Helps to ensure operations function at top levels of efficiency and exceed patient expectations. Radiology Lead Tech will help coordinate the training and development of the diagnostic radiologic technologists, keeping them advised of technological and procedure changes and participating in their growth and competency requirements. Observe radiation, personnel, and patient safety measures. Excellent communication skills are necessary.

  • Appropriately adapt assigned patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each patient served.
  • Ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards of care as deemed appropriate by State and Federal agencies, the hospital, and other regulatory entities.
  • Coordinates/prioritizes imaging procedures throughout the workday, maintaining a high level of patient care and continuity.
  • Performs examinations/procedures as needed to assist in patient throughput.
  • Ensures exam rooms are neat, clean, and adequately stocked before exams are performed.
  • Demonstrates flexibility by working other shifts and at other campuses as needed or required.
  • Ensures completed exams are scanned and stored correctly in PACS.
  • Ability to follow PACS downtime procedures as a PACS Superuser and escalate any problem(s) or issue(s) to the PACS administrator or Designee if needed.
  • Troubleshoots and reports any equipment malfunctions to the Director/Manager/Supervisor and/or Biomedical personnel; does appropriate follow-up.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology or other accepted and approved equivalent required

Experience

  • 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred
  • Basic computer experience required

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • Radiography (R) by ARRT is required
  • State Licensure required
    • Texas: MRT by TMB
    • Louisiana: LRT (R) or (F) by LSRTBE
    • New Mexico: RRT by MIRTP NMED
  • BLS required
