Job Description
The Cook position is responsible for the preparation, production, and presentation of a variety of foods, completion of production sheets, and other associated food service activities for an Assisted Living kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Performs all main line food production duties.
- Prepares food as indicated by par level sheets and in accordance with Nutritional Services and Health Department standards.
- Reviews daily needs with supervisors, completes production sheets, and verifies supply needs and availability.
- Ensures quality control in food production and maintains sanitation of assigned areas.
- Assists in training food service personnel.
- Arranges for food service workers to complete smaller item preparations.
- Oversees food serving lines and coffee bars, ensuring proper stocking of food items.
- Instructs others on proper FIFO rotation procedures for all food-related items.
- Follows all Food Safety Standards (HACCP).
- Completes temperature and sanitation logs for freezers, coolers, and warming stations.
- Supports an active safety program.
- May assist other food service personnel as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Alaska Food Handlers Card or ServSafe certification within 30 days of hire.
- At least one (1) year of general food service experience.
- Must provide immunization records for TB or be willing to get vaccinated.
- Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Environment: Indoors, environmentally controlled.
Noise level: Moderate.
Work pace: Medium.
Customer interaction: Moderate.
Location: Pioneer Home, an industrial kitchen within an assisted living setting.
Physical requirements: Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs, and perform various physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, and more.
Travel: None.
Additional: Must provide proof of TB immunization or be willing to be vaccinated.
