Job Summary:
A facility in Cambridge, MA is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a fast-paced, 8-week contract in Utilization Review (UR) . This essential role focuses on ensuring appropriate utilization of hospital services, managing patient status (Inpatient vs. Observation), performing medical necessity reviews, and facilitating timely and efficient patient flow. The ideal candidate is a seasoned traveler with strong clinical acute care experience who can float.
Key Requirements & Scheduling:
- Shift: 8-hour Day Shift (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM), Monday to Friday.
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week.
- Duration: 8 Weeks (October 21, 2025 – December 13, 2025).
- Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Must work every other major holiday .
- Floating: Mandatory float between Cambridge Hospital and Somerville Hospital .
- Scheduling Notes: The facility does NOT allow block scheduling .
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience:
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience is required.
- Must have acute care experience.
- Previous Travel experience is required ; first-time travelers will not be considered.
- Prior experience in Utilization Review, Case Management, or Discharge Planning is highly beneficial.
- Licensure & Certifications:
- Current RN License valid in the state of Massachusetts.
- AHA BLS certification is required.
- EMR Proficiency: EPIC experience is highly preferred.
- Seasonal Requirement: Flu vaccine is required during the season.
Additional Details
- Radius Rule: The facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule . Local candidates are accepted, and a local rate will apply.
- Overtime Policy: Weekly OT after 40 hours (Based on multiplier).
- On-Call: No on-call is required.
