Weekends: Every other weekend required

Description:
A leading healthcare facility in New Hyde Park, NY is seeking an experienced Travel Sterile Processing Technician for a 13-week night shift assignment. The technician will be responsible for all phases of sterile processing, including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment across all services, including robotics.

Details:

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years required

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

• Certifications:

  • Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST or CSPD) required

  • CIS preferred

• Equipment: Steris & Sterrad washers and autoclaves

• Systems: SynergyTrak

Responsibilities:

• Disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package surgical instruments and supplies per manufacturer and departmental protocols

• Operate sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, washers, and related equipment

• Adhere to instrument count sheets and prepare surgical sets and case carts

• Retrieve, inspect, and document instruments and trays for decontamination and functionality

• Communicate with perioperative staff regarding instrument needs

• Maintain department inventory and ensure compliance with infection prevention and safety standards

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs

• Manual dexterity and ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods

• Effective verbal and written communication in English
