The Allegheny Health Network (AHN), a leading integrated healthcare system in Western and Northwest PA, is recruiting a highly accomplished and visionary surgeon to serve as the Surgical Lead for a Newly Formed System-wide Digestive Disease Center and System Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery. Job Duties

As Surgical Lead for the Digestive Disease Center and System Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery, you will provide strategic leadership, oversee clinical operations, lead the recruitment of new faculty and foster a culture of excellence in patient care, research, and education. Reporting to the System Chair of the Surgical Institute, your responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Leadership:Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan to advance the department's clinical programs, research initiatives, and educational endeavors across the entire network footprint spanning from Western PA to Erie and Western New York.
  • Clinical Oversight:Oversee the clinical activities of the 9 Surgeon colorectal surgery division ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to best practices.
  • Physician Leadership:Mentor and support a team of highly skilled colorectal surgeons, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Research & Innovation: Encourage and support research activities, leveraging the department's strong research infrastructure and collaboration with Drexel University School of Medicine
  • Community Engagement:Represent the department and AHN within the medical community and broader community.

Job Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree and board certification in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
  • Extensive experience as a practicing colorectal surgeon with a proven track record of successful leadership and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong commitment to patient care, research, and education.
  • Pennsylvania medical licensure (or eligibility) required.
  • DEA and CPR Certification required prior to employment.
  • Academic appointment at the level of Associate or Full Professor of Surgery
