The Psychiatric - Mental Health Physician at Hudson County Correctional Facility provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and psychotherapeutic services to inmates with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. The role involves collaborating within a multi-disciplinary treatment team, managing patient assessments and treatment plans, and ensuring compliance with medical, legal, and facility regulations. The physician must maintain certifications, confidentiality, and safety protocols while contributing to quality improvement and facility objectives.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Psychiatrist at Hudson County Correctional Facility will be responsible for the delivery of psychotherapy, diagnostic, and therapeutic services in a contract facility. The Psychiatrist will also act as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team and a liaison with other medical disciplines.

The Psychiatrist diagnoses and treats patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, organizes data concerning patient s family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from patient, relatives, and other sources, such as nurse and social worker.

Examines patient to determine general physical condition, following standard medical procedures.

Orders laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained. Determines nature and extent of mental disorder, and formulates treatment program. Treats or directs treatment of patient, utilizing variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.

  • Strong knowledge of general medicine and psychotherapy, current developments in the field of psychology, hospital and clinic organization, management, and procedures.
  • Capable of preparing written reports and able to handle legal depositions and court hearings.
  • Maintains an active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
  • Must have an unrestricted and valid prescriptive authority with Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS).

  • Attends all CFG Health Systems related staff meetings.
  • Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities.
  • Completes required orientation and trainings directed by facility.
  • Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment.
  • Follows facility and CFG Health Systems Occurrence Protocol.
  • Adheres to PREA and HIPPA regulations.
  • Maintains security clearance for the assigned facility.
  • Identifies and utilized appropriate channels of communication with supervising staff.
