Join the ASPCA as the Senior Director of Behavior, overseeing the care and rehabilitation of animals in New York City. This pivotal role collaborates with various teams to ensure high-quality, compassionate care while leading research initiatives that advance animal welfare. With a dedicated team, you will make a significant impact on the lives of animals in need.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for animals
Ensure individualized care and maintain overall population health
Develop and oversee behavioral diagnosis and treatment plans
Manage and coach a team of behavior experts
Lead research projects and share knowledge
Collaborate with various teams to improve animal welfare
Maintain thorough and high-quality behavioral records
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively
Experience with behaviorally and medically compromised animals
Comfort with humane euthanasia decisions and procedures
Fear Free certification within 6 months of hire
Ability to work additional hours, weekends, and respond to after-hours concerns
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
Experience writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
