Job Description

Join Optum as a Patient Access Representative Lead in Minneapolis, where you will greet patients and manage their registration process. Your efforts will directly contribute to improving health outcomes and advancing health equity in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greets and welcomes patients in person
  • Collects demographic and insurance information
  • Checks in and interviews patients to complete the registration process
  • Obtains signatures from patients as needed
  • Directs patients to their appointment or procedure
  • May assist in scheduling add-on appointments
  • Documents any issues and resolutions in electronic medical record
  • Resolve claim issues or registration errors on patient accounts
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits information for payers
  • Obtains cost information and explains it to patients if necessary
  • Collects on patient financial obligations
  • Handles complex questions as needed
  • Screens and approves patients for financial assistance programs
  • Provides technical or functional direction for employees
  • Assists patients in completion of request for information forms
  • Provides customer service for inbound and outbound telephone calls
  • Collaborates with leaders to ensure effective team operations
  • Identifies and reports trends to leadership
  • Exhibits leadership behaviors and expectations
  • Completes Quality Audits as assigned
  • Participates in the orientation and training of employees
  • Will participate in on-call rotation as defined by site
  • Assists and supports team in all roles
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of revenue cycle experience in a healthcare/hospital setting
  • 2+ years of customer service experience in a healthcare or customer-facing setting
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work 40 hours/week, starting between 8:00 - 11:00am Monday - Friday
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Epic experience
