Job Description
Join Sanford Health as a Child Life Specialist, where you will create engaging play activities and therapeutic interventions for pediatric patients. Collaborate with healthcare teams to support children's emotional well-being in a compassionate environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, coordinate, and implement developmentally appropriate play activities and expressive arts for pediatric patients
Serve as the child's advocate in collaboration with the healthcare team
Utilize knowledge of child development and family systems to establish therapeutic interventions
Promote family-centered care and enhance coping and resiliency skills
Provide ongoing assessment of interventions and oversee volunteers in the Child Life department
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Human Development, or related field
Completion of Child Life internship
Certification as a Child Life Specialist (CCLS) required or must be obtained within one year of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum two years experience working with various age groups of children
Experience working with pediatric population in a therapeutic setting
