Job Description
The Financial Navigator plays a crucial role in supporting patients by assessing their financial needs, explaining care costs, and guiding them through insurance and assistance programs. This position serves as the primary contact for patients regarding financial concerns throughout their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities
Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorizations
Meet with patients to discuss financial responsibilities and assistance options
Assist with applications for Medicaid, SSI, and charity care
Educate patients on coverage options
Collaborate with pharmacy support for medication assistance
Track patient assistance applications and document communications
Maintain compliance with regulations
Reconcile daily transactions and assist with payment arrangements
Stay current on financial assistance opportunities
Required Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Business or related field
Two years of experience in healthcare billing or financial counseling
Strong knowledge of insurance processes
Billing and financial aid resources proficiency
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication skills
Strong organization skills
Problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of internal financial services and navigator training
