Job Description
Join Optum as a Patient Access Representative, where you'll provide essential patient-oriented services in a clinical setting, ensuring seamless registration and support for patients. This role is critical in enhancing health outcomes and advancing health equity through compassionate service.
Key Responsibilities
Communicates directly with patients and/or families to complete registration by collecting demographics and verifying insurance eligibility.
Utilizes computer systems to enter or verify patient data in real-time.
Processes referrals, pre-certifications, and verifies insurance coverage.
Collects patient co-pays and conducts financial obligation discussions.
Identifies outstanding balances and attempts to collect amounts due.
Generates, reviews, and analyzes patient data reports.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office setting, customer service setting or phone support role
Must be 18 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
